The SIM Project — bespoke analogue camera and portable darkroom designed and 3D printed by umΩ

Produced by King's Culture and supported by King's College London, the show brings together work from The SIM Project, a multi-year undertaking that has now travelled across eight countries and involved hundreds of participants with roots in over 40 countries.

The exhibition includes an illuminated mosaic assembled from thousands of SIM card-sized glass images, a projection, and a jewellery piece shown publicly for the first time. The piece was made in response to the Portland Global Friendship Group, a community formed around the Bibby Stockholm barge, and incorporates personal photographs printed onto glass, knotted together with silver thread around a core of Portland limestone. It is visible from the street on the corner of the Strand.

umΩ contributed to the exhibition fittings, continuing a collaboration with The SIM Project that has also included the design and 3D printing of the project's bespoke camera, the portable darkroom, and the exhibition design and build for the London Design Festival show at the V&A in 2024. Waymarkers runs until December 2025.
